Role Description

An estimator is responsible for determining the total cost of a construction project. The estimator will review the plans and proposed construction, and then estimate what it will cost to build as part of our quotation process using the systems provided.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain price files
  • Prepare and maintain price book
  • Estimating and preparing orders on all jobs
  • Liaising with the Construction Manager and Suppliers
  • Keeping a close check on costs of each job through the system

Functional Relationships

  • Good communication skills and the ability to engage with both internal and external customers/builders/teams members

Key Skills

  • Previous estimating experience preferred but not essential
  • Confident mathematical skills
  • Good problem solving skills
  • Ability to plan, organise and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Basic knowledge of residential construction and building processes
  • Understanding of the relevant building codes and New Zealand Standards
  • High attention to detail
  • Proficient excel skills an advantage
